Dear All,
I'm starting this blog to keep track of my journey while I practice becoming a better illustrator. I recently had a phone interview for a job that asked me, "What do you see yourself doing in the next 5 years?". In my mind that's an easy question: I'll be making a living being a freelance illustrator. From my interviewers point of view, that probably wasn't the most qualifying answer, but it was a subtle way for me to declare goals rather than give some bs marketing answer.
“My plan is to fail a lot and make mistakes that further my growth.”
Just declaring to be an illustrator doesn't mean really anything to me unless I actually have artwork I can stand behind. This is idea has been in the back of mind for a while and so stay tuned for funky drawings and comics coming to this blog. My idea of good art is someone commiting to their ideas with conviction and I've always treated drawing as a hobby. My plan is to fail a lot and make mistakes that further my growth. This is also an opportunity for me to improve my writing abilities.
More to come,
Vancey
